DuraSpace presents a community webinar,

“Open Source Repository Upgrades: Top Advice from Practitioners” on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 12:00p.m. EST.

Presented by Erin Tripp, Business Development Manager, DuraSpace

Many in the DuraSpace and affiliate communities are preparing for major upgrades to their digital repositories. For some, the upgrades will impact underlying technologies, data models, standards for description, and functionality.  Our March Webinar, Open Source Repository Upgrades: Top Advice from Practitioners will summarize advice so participants can benefit from the experience of their peers and plan for the best project possible.

The advice is derived from an anonymous DuraSpace upgrade and migration survey project undertaken in fall 2017. It resulted in thirty one response from managers, librarians, application analysts,  engineers, and project managers from the United States, Canada, the UK, and Switzerland. Respondents spoke about successful and failed migrations and upgrades involving more than a dozen software platforms including DSpace, Fedora, Samvera, Islandora, Digital Commons and CONTENTdm.

This webinar will be a follow up October 2017 DLF Forum presentation, Reframing Open Source Repository Upgrades that focused on the top three benefits and challenges of software upgrades and migrations.

The one-hour webinar will conclude with a discussion. Participants will be encouraged to share challenges, successes, resources, and recommendations.

This webinar will be recorded and the materials will be made available in open formats and licenses to encourage use, discovery, and re-use.

Space is limited to 100 participants and pre-registration is required.
