LYRASIS is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented individual to serve as the DSpace Program Coordinator.

The Program Coordinator serves as a liaison to the DSpace governance, service providers, software developers, and other stakeholders. Key activities of the role include building communication and outreach plans and coordinating meetings and presentations.

This is currently a part-time position (10-15 hours per week) with the potential to grow into a full-time role over time.

Duties/Job Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

These will be the primary responsibilities as a part-time role

  • Serve as liaison to steering group, leadership group, community members, service providers, developers, and other stakeholders
    • Support will be provided by Technical Lead and others at LYRASIS
  • Support raising annual funding for the program through memberships, grants, and inā€kind contributions
  • Improve the quality of the DSpace user registry
  • Assist technical lead in planning & coordination activities of the program
  • Provide DSpace program perspective in development team decisions
  • Provide simple support on mailing lists and Slack

Community Engagement

These are further responsibilities if the role grows into a full-time role

  • Create and coordinate outreach activities
  • Increase outreach content about DSpace (news, videos, blog posts, conference/meeting presentations, plan events, and webinars)
  • Present non-technical DSpace talks/webinars, some of which may require travel
  • Support international outreach to institutions, government organizations, sponsors, funding agencies, and others
  • Provide support for governance meetings and elections
  • Provide support for efforts to recruit and cultivate new adopters and contributors
  • Coordinate representation for DSpace community at key conferences and workshops
  • Coordinate creation of user-facing documentation and training videos
  • Reach out to users of DSpace worldwide, inviting them to join the community. Trying to connect with them and encourage them to share their source code with DSpace

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience formulating, managing, and executing project plans
  • Experience working effectively with a cross-functional team to plan and complete information technology projects
  • A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where differences and complexities in background, cultures, values, and viewpoints are valued

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working collaboratively and communicating effectively with stakeholders coming from a range of backgrounds
  • Experience working with institutional and/or digital repositories
  • Experience working in international organizations or communities
  • Familiarity with GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, museums) communities
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit or open-source software community programs
  • Ability to develop relationships with current and potential community members
  • Multilingualism
