From Tim Donohue, DSpace Tech Lead for DuraSpace on behalf of the DSpace Committers Group

Austin, TX  The DSpace Committers are delighted to announce a new member to the team: Art Lowel from Atmire. Please join us in welcoming him!

Art holds a degree in computer science from KU Leuven in Belgium. He got acquainted with DSpace as part of his master's thesis. He's been working at Atmire since 2007 and has been in charge of Research and Development there since 2013.

Art has been the driving force behind the Mirage 1 and 2 themes for XMLUI. He submitted an Ember JS prototype in last year's UI prototype challenge and was instrumental in the development of the Angular 2 UI prototype. Additionally, he will be leading the UI team for DSpace 7 (stay tuned for more about this work).

We are always on the lookout for new developers, contributors, and committers within the DSpace community. Anyone who would like to get more involved is encouraged to join our weekly meetings (announced on the dspace-devel mailing list).

Contributions can take many forms, from writing code to editing documentation, or testing new releases to designing new themes for our user interfaces. For more information, see our guide to contributing to DSpace:

If you or someone you know has been an active DSpace contributor for some time, you can also nominate that person to become our next committer! Nomination details are available at:
