From Claudio Cortese, 4Science 4Science is pleased to announce that we have joined, as the first participant, the Certified DuraSpace Partner Program to deliver DuraCloud services. This partnership will facilitate delivery of DuraCloud digital preservation and content storage services in Europe, offering cloud-hosted services and application support in additional time zones and languages. At 4Science, we are very pleased to help DuraSpace offer this service outside the U.S.A. and we are convinced that long-term digital preservation is a fundamental need both for the research and cultural heritage ecosystems.
The report: Behaviours and Technical Recommendations of the COAR Next Generation Repositories Working Group is now available, expressing the vision that repositories create the conditions whereby a greater diversity of contributions to the scholarly record will be accessible. We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort through the participation of our CTIO and DSpace Committer Andrea Bollini, contributing to make DSpace stay relevant in the scholarly communication ecosystem. 4Science is committed to facilitate the adoption of best practice in DSpace and has already implemented several recommendations in DSpace-CRIS.
In November, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Portal has been launched. The portal has been developed with DSpace-CRIS and it harvests and collects data from Institutional Repositories of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region (Italy).
In the meanwhile, new exciting projects started in the past few weeks and the DSpace-CRIS community continues to grow: the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel (Switzerland) chose 4Science to implement their CRIS repository, the University of Siena (Italy) with a new repository for molecular biology, the University of Turin (Italy) for a publishers’ policies repository. Moreover, we are supporting the Goettingen University (Germany) for the setup of their DSpace-CRIS repository and the Singapore Polytechnic to maintain their DSpace installation.
DSpace-CRIS is still evolving and you will find some improvements on the stable maintenance branch for both versions 5 and 6. The most relevant are:

switch to the ORCID v2 API, now also in the 6 branch;

updated support to the signposting patterns;

sync of the undergoing fix towards dspace 6.3.
Besides, the team at 4Science is continuously committed in the development of DSpace 7.
